We are pleased to announce that Shun Nishiyama, a member of the Chigasaki Surf Lifesaving Club and a long-time active member of the Japan national team 'Lifesaving Japan', set new Masters world records at the '38th All Japan Lifesaving Pool Competition' held over two days from Saturday, February 21 to Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre (Koto-ku, Tokyo).

The '38th All Japan Lifesaving Pool Competition' is an officially recognized tournament by the International Life Saving Federation (ILS), and was held as an event where world records can be officially certified.

In this competition, Mr. Nishiyama established 3 new Japan records and 4 new Masters <35 age category> world records. He was already the world record holder in 3 events in the Masters <35 age category>: Obstacle Swim (200m), Manikin Carry with Fins (100m), and Super Lifesaver (200m). At this tournament, he further improved his time in the Manikin Carry with Fins (100m) and established new world records in the Rescue Medley (100m), Manikin Carry (50m), and Manikin Tow with Fins (100m).

Therefore, Mr. Nishiyama has become the world record holder in ALL events for the Masters <35 age category>. This is the first time for a Japanese lifesaver and a historic feat!
