J.I developer (JID), headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa, and led by CEO Daisuke Shimazaki, officially launched its BPO service "J-smart Scaffolding Drawings" (also known as "J-smart") in April 2026. This service utilizes AI to automatically generate scaffolding drawings. Since its introduction, the company has been registering new clients at an average rate of one per business day, demonstrating significant progress in addressing structural issues within the scaffolding industry. The development of J-smart was motivated by four key challenges in the scaffolding construction sector: lengthy delivery times (averaging 7.5 to 13 business days per project), high outsourcing costs, reliance on individual expertise leading to quality inconsistencies and labor shortages, and loss of business opportunities for companies unable to produce drawings. JID leveraged its expertise from construction sites and its AI development capabilities to create J-smart as a comprehensive solution. The service allows clients to input necessary information via a dedicated online form in approximately five minutes. The AI then automatically generates a complete set of drawings, including plan views, elevation views, detailed drawings, and strength calculation reports, all formatted for submission to the Labor Standards Inspection Office. Proven benefits include a 23% reduction in market-comparable costs, a 39% reduction in drawing man-hours, and a lead time of 1.5 weeks from order to delivery. The AI-driven process involves automatic recognition of building shapes, calculation of optimal scaffolding arrangements using proprietary algorithms, and rapid drawing generation (e.g., plan views in two minutes). Strength calculations incorporate regional data such as wind load and dead load, producing compliant reports. The pricing model is usage-based with no monthly fixed fees: basic drawings (including tracing) cost ¥15,000 per sheet, strength calculation reports start from ¥3,000 per sheet, and road occupation/usage drawings start from ¥8,000. Two revisions are included free of charge, and all delivered drawings comply with Labor Standards. As of the report, J-smart has been adopted by several dozen companies, including development partners. CEO Daisuke Shimazaki stated that the service directly addresses the critical issue of construction delays caused by drawing bottlenecks, and the rapid adoption rate confirms the industry's demand for such solutions.
