March 30, 2026 JFE Engineering Corporation
JFE Engineering Corporation (President: Kazumi Fukuda, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has been awarded the "New Combustible Waste Treatment Facility Development and Operation Project" (hereinafter, "the Project") by the Ashigarakami Sanitation Association.
This project involves the construction of a new incineration facility (stoker-type incinerator, 40t/day x 2 furnaces) to serve as a consolidated facility for the Minamiashigara City Cleaning Plant, the Oi Beautification Center, and the Ashigara Western Environmental Center, establishing a wide-area processing system for one city (Minamiashigara) and five towns (Nakai, Oi, Matsuda, Yamakita, and Kaisei). Our company has formed a joint venture with JFE Environmental Technology Corporation [*1] (Representative Company: JFE Engineering Corporation) and has been awarded a comprehensive contract for the design, construction, and 20 years of operation of this facility using the DBO method [*2].
The newly constructed incineration facility will adopt the "Counter-Flow Combustion System [*4]," an advancement of our proprietary "High-Temperature Air Combustion Technology [*3]," to achieve stable combustion at low air ratios for a wide range of waste volumes and qualities. Furthermore, by introducing the fully automated operation system "BRA-ING [*5]," we aim to stabilize combustion and improve power generation output.
In addition, we will implement our proprietary fire prevention technologies, including the AI smoke detection system "Smoke AI® [*6]," and provide remote plant operation monitoring and operational support from the "Global Remote Center [*7]" located at our Yokohama headquarters, ensuring even safer and higher-quality facility management.
As a leading company in waste-to-energy plants, we will continue to provide optimal technologies tailored to our customers' needs, aiming to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and solve social issues through the effective utilization of waste.
