JFE Engineering Awarded Contract for Waste Treatment Facility Development and Operation by Yamanashi Western Regional Environmental Association

March 31, 2026. JFE Engineering Corporation (President: Kazumi Fukuda, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has been awarded the 'Yamanashi Western Regional Environmental Association New Waste Treatment Facility Development and Operation Project' (hereinafter, 'the Project') by the Yamanashi Western Regional Environmental Association. This project aims to establish a regional processing system for 11 municipalities in the western area of Yamanashi Prefecture, involving the construction of a new waste incineration facility (stoker-type incinerator, 137t/day x 2 furnaces) and a bulky waste treatment facility (20.3t/day). JFE Engineering has been contracted to handle the design, construction, and 20 years of operation under the DBO (Design, Build, Operate) method. The new incineration facility will achieve the highest level of high-efficiency power generation for a domestic municipal waste treatment facility by adopting ultra-high-temperature and high-pressure boilers. The incinerator will utilize the 'Counter-flow Combustion System,' an evolution of our proprietary 'High-Temperature Air Combustion Technology,' and the 'BRA-ING' fully automatic operation system to stabilize combustion and improve power output across a wide range of waste volumes and qualities. Furthermore, we will implement our proprietary fire prevention technologies, including the AI smoke detection system 'Smoke AI,' and provide remote operation monitoring and support from our 'Global Remote Center' at our Yokohama headquarters to ensure safer and higher-quality facility management. We will also contribute to the revitalization of the local economy by collaborating with numerous local companies throughout the design, construction, and operation phases.
