The Japan Esports Union (JeSU; Chairman: Hideki Hayakawa) is pleased to announce the publication of the 'Regional Game Accessibility Resource Survey Report.'
Esports, which treats competitive video gaming as a sport, utilizes game consoles, PCs, and smartphones. A major characteristic of esports is that it allows everyone to enjoy competition together, transcending age, gender, and physical handicaps.
Since fiscal year 2024, with a grant from The Nippon Foundation, JeSU has been working on human resource development and awareness-raising activities regarding the social participation of people with disabilities through esports, including hosting introductory seminars for supporters and producing guidebooks.
As the importance of esports in the social participation of people with disabilities continues to grow, we conducted a 'Regional Game Accessibility Resource Survey' targeting ICT support centers, esports organizations, and medical/welfare professionals nationwide. The goal was to visualize 'consultation points' for individuals seeking support and to promote the construction of a network of regional resources. In addition to the report, we have released a 'Regional Game Accessibility Resource Map' and a guidance video explaining how to use it. We encourage people with disabilities interested in esports, as well as those involved in supporting them, to take a look.
