Since 2015, when JEMS became the first in Japan to begin privately contracting emergency transport services in municipalities without permanent fire departments, we have been working to establish pre-hospital emergency medical systems in remote and island areas. Leveraging the knowledge and achievements cultivated in Misato Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, Katsuura Town, Tokushima Prefecture, and Taketomi Town, Okinawa Prefecture, we are now pleased to announce the commencement of operations in Naoshima Town, Kagawa District, Kagawa Prefecture. With the start of operations in Naoshima Town, JEMS will be providing emergency transport services in its fourth municipality nationwide.

Naoshima Town, Kagawa District, Kagawa Prefecture, is not only a place where local residents live their daily lives but also a region visited by many people from both Japan and abroad. Taking these regional characteristics into account, JEMS will strive to carry out community-based emergency transport services to play a part in creating a safe emergency system for both residents and visitors.

The emergency transport services contracted by JEMS respond to 119 calls, with emergency medical technicians riding in municipal ambulances to the scene, providing necessary emergency medical treatment, and transporting patients to appropriate medical institutions. Emphasizing the prevention of medical accidents and ensuring safety, we primarily operate with multiple emergency medical technicians, while collaborating with local medical institutions and related organizations to establish a pre-hospital emergency medical system tailored to the region.

Misato Town, Higashiusuki District, Miyazaki Prefecture Service Commencement Date: June 1, 2015 (First emergency transport service contract in Japan)

Katsuura Town, Katsuura District, Tokushima Prefecture Service Commencement Date: April 1, 2017 (Second emergency transport service contract nationwide)

Iriomote Island Western Area, Taketomi Town, Yaeyama District, Okinawa Prefecture Service Commencement Date: July 1, 2020 (Third emergency transport service contract nationwide)

Naoshima Town, Kagawa District, Kagawa Prefecture Service Commencement Date: April 1, 2026 (Fourth emergency transport service contract nationwide)

*On April 1, 2019, a dedicated ambulance team for transfer transport was established in Misato Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, to strengthen the regional transport system.
