## JANPIA Launches Application Support Program for FY2026 Dormant Deposit Grant Application
~Supporting organizations considering applying to become funding intermediaries for the FY2026 regular grant cycle~

The Japan Network for Public Interest Activities (JANPIA), located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and led by President Masaya Nimiya, has launched an "Application Support Program" for organizations considering applying to the FY2026 grant program's regular framework for funding intermediaries, which is implemented based on the Act on Utilization of Dormant Deposits.

This program aims to provide information and support that funding intermediaries need before applying for the grant, fostering a better understanding of the system and improving the quality of applications.

### Background
The Dormant Deposit Utilization System is a scheme to support private-sector public-interest activities to help solve social issues that are difficult for the government to address alone.

However, many organizations feel hurdles at the pre-application stage, with feedback such as:
- The system's details are hard to understand.
- There is anxiety about preparing the application documents.
- It's difficult to determine if their organization is eligible.

This program is designed to help organizations considering applying to become grant funding intermediaries. It provides information and support to help them confirm if their project content aligns with the system's requirements and objectives at the pre-application stage, and to identify points for refining their project content, thereby improving application quality.

### About the "Application Support Program"
This program provides support to organizations considering applying to become grant funding intermediaries.

**Main Contents:**
- Support for understanding the overview of the Dormant Deposit Utilization System.
- Resolving questions regarding the application.
- Support for application preparation.

### Eligibility
Organizations that meet both of the following requirements:
- Organizations considering applying for the FY2026 Regular Framework public call for funding intermediaries.
- Organizations that have never been selected as a funding intermediary or activity support organization for the Dormant Deposit Utilization Project.
*Even in the case of a consortium, organizations that have previously participated in the regular framework are not eligible.
*Eligible organizations are strongly encouraged to apply for this program. (Applications for the public call will still be accepted even without participation.)

April 10, 2026 (Fri) – April 14, 2026 (Tue) 5:00 PM
*The deadline will be strictly enforced, and no registrations will be accepted after the deadline.

- **Workshop (Online):**
Schedule A: April 17, 2026 (Fri) 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Schedule B: April 23, 2026 (Thu) 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM
*Schedules A and B have the same content. Please choose one to attend.
*If you cannot attend either date, please watch the limited-release video recording later.

### About the FY2026 Regular Framework (1st Round) Public Call Guidelines
The public call guidelines for the FY2026 Regular Framework (1st Round) have also been released.
This public call invites applications from funding intermediaries that will conduct projects contributing to the resolution of social issues, based on the purpose of the Dormant Deposit Utilization System.

Through this program, JANPIA aims to promote understanding of the system, expand its utilization, and encourage the participation of diverse entities as funding intermediaries.

### About the Dormant Deposit Utilization System
This system utilizes deposits, etc., that have had no transactions for 10 years or more since January 1, 2009 (dormant deposits, etc.) to solve social issues and promote private-sector activities.
The Act on Utilization of Dormant Deposits was enacted through lawmaker-led legislation in December 2016, and grant projects began in FY2019. Following the amendment of the Act in June 2023, new support systems such as activity support organizations and investment projects started in 2024.
