JAL has been selected for the "Asia Pacific" component of the "Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJBIC Indices)", a leading indicator for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment, which comprises companies in the Asia-Pacific region. This marks JAL's fourth consecutive year of selection.
In addition to the "Asia Pacific Index" of the DJBIC Indices, JAL continues to be adopted in various other constituent indices, including leading ESG stock indices such as the "FTSE Blossom Japan Index" and the "FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index" (*1).
DJBIC Indices comprehensively analyze and evaluate corporate activities from three perspectives: governance/economy, environment, and society, targeting over 13,000 major companies worldwide. They select companies with outstanding sustainability, serving as a crucial ESG index for investors who prioritize corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
In this assessment, JAL received top ratings in the aviation industry for items such as engagement with multi-stakeholders for decarbonization, packaging management including the reduction of single-use plastics, human resource development, and occupational health and safety. Furthermore, disclosures based on the recommendations of the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) (*2) and TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) (*3), human rights initiatives, and personal information protection were also highly evaluated (*4).
At the JAL Group, the source of our growth is to expand relationships and connections that make society and people happy, going beyond the realm of aviation to society as a whole. Through our business, we will confront social issues and carve out a sustainable and well-being future together with society, our customers, and all stakeholders.
