[Synopsis of 'Rule Breaker' Vol. 18] After returning from the maritime nation of Vileocean and reuniting with the 'Four Stars of the East,' the trio including Hikaru visits Japan with Soluse to celebrate Paula's birthday. In Japan, interest in supernatural phenomena and the occult remains high, perhaps due to the otherworldly disturbances. Amidst this, a ghost appears in a certain part of Tokyo, not only threatening people but also destroying road signs for some reason. Upon investigation at the request of a certain organization, Hikaru and Soluse encounter the ghost and cross swords. Hikaru succeeds in exorcising the ghost and is drawn to the 'wakizashi' (short sword) the ghost was using. He acquires it, but the famous sword is imbued with magic.
