Implementation of Enhanced Genuine Product Authentication System Icom Inc. (Hirano-ku, Osaka, President and Representative Director Hiroshi Nakaoka, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market) is pleased to announce the completion of the enhancement of its product authentication system, as previously communicated in the September 24, 2024, announcement titled "Strengthening Counterfeit Product Measures for Our Products." This enhancement ensures that customers can more reliably verify the authenticity of products they purchase.
Details of the Measures We have abolished hologram stickers as a means of authenticating genuine products and have unified to a more reliable QR code authentication system. This system will be applied to all eligible products shipped from October 2025 onwards, and we are pleased to report that its stable operation has been confirmed.
About the QR Code Authentication System By scanning the QR code printed on the serial sticker affixed to the back of the product with a smartphone or similar device, you can access our authentication site. If the product is genuine, the site will display that it is genuine, the number of times the same QR code has accessed the authentication site, and the last access date and time. This mechanism allows for the detection of counterfeit products, even if a genuine QR code is copied and used on a counterfeit, as an unnaturally large number of access attempts will be displayed. Please note that cases of imitation authentication sites have also been confirmed. Always ensure that the URL of the site you access is legitimate (an address starting with https://genuine.icom.co.jp/).
Regarding Market Inventory Products with Hologram Stickers Products with traditional hologram stickers will continue to circulate as market inventory. These are genuine Icom products. For the time being, products with the new authentication system and conventional products will coexist in the market, but any product purchased from an authorized dealer can be used with confidence. For more details on hologram stickers, please visit the following site:

*Please note that some conventional models compatible with the QR code authentication system may have both QR codes and hologram stickers affixed as circulating inventory. Like other models, products that can be authenticated with a QR code are genuine. Please check the list published at the URL above for applicable models.
Please note that the above measures have not been implemented for products currently deemed to have a low risk of counterfeiting. Furthermore, strict management is maintained for ensuring product traceability throughout the manufacturing and distribution process, similar to the eligible products.
Other Measures To raise awareness among more users about the existence of counterfeit products, leaflets detailing the above measures in English, Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian are included with eligible products. The same content will also be actively featured in promotional materials such as catalogs for compatible products.
We strongly request that you continue to purchase transceivers from our authorized dealers.
