Ichini Co., Ltd. (President and CEO Takashi Takahata, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), operator of Senkyo.com, launched the 'Akiruno Mayoral Election 2026 Voting Matching' service (https://votematches.go2senkyo.com/akiruno_mayor_2026/) on July 13.

The 'Akiruno Mayoral Election 2026 Voting Matching' service is designed to help voters choose their preferred candidate in the Akiruno mayoral election, which was officially announced on July 12 and will hold voting and vote counting on July 19. By answering questions on policies directly affecting daily life, users can measure how closely their views align with those of the candidates. This service is intended to serve as a reference for making informed voting decisions.

Overview of the Voting Matching Service

This edition features 16 questions. Senkyo.com designed the questions and conducted surveys with candidates, using their responses to build the matching algorithm. The questions cover key election issues such as responses to population decline, administrative management, and the future direction of city governance under a new mayor. Each question includes an explanatory note, as well as descriptions of potential benefits and drawbacks, to support users in making informed judgments.

Both voters and candidates respond to each question using a five-point scale: Agree, Somewhat Agree, Neutral, Somewhat Disagree, and Disagree. The system then calculates alignment based on the proximity of responses between users and candidates.

About Voting Matching

Senkyo.com’s 'Voting Matching' tool has been used not only in national elections such as the House of Representatives and House of Councillors elections but also in local elections including gubernatorial and mayoral races. Usage exceeded 4 million during the 2025 Upper House election, and total cumulative usage has surpassed 10 million.

Voting Matching is an online tool that allows users to answer key election policy questions with one of five options ranging from 'Agree' to 'Disagree', helping them discover which parties or candidates most closely match their views. The matching score is calculated based on the 'distance' between the user’s and candidate’s responses. For example, if a user selects 'Agree' on a question, a candidate who also selects 'Agree' will receive a higher matching score than one who selects 'Somewhat Agree', due to the closer response distance.

Senkyo.com aims to make election information more accessible, support voter participation, and contribute to higher voter turnout. We hope voters will continue to use and rely on our voting matching services in future elections.
