[Osaka Evessa] "Seimei's Rice Project" First Phase: Project Launch & Rice Planting Experience

Osaka Evessa has launched "Seimei's Rice Project," an initiative born from player Seimei Sakamoto's desire to "let the children of Osaka eat delicious rice!"

This project aims to deliver delicious rice to local children and residents, in collaboration with Settsu City, the Settsu City Board of Education, with whom we have a comprehensive partnership agreement, and other related organizations.

This report introduces the background of the project's launch and the events of the rice planting day.

Background of the Project's Launch

Seimei Sakamoto, during her time with her former team, Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, gained experience growing rice and delivering it to local children. This experience led her to the desire to "deliver delicious rice to the children of Osaka," which in turn inspired this project.

To make this a reality, Sakamoto's aspirations were conveyed to the Settsu City Board of Education, with whom we have a comprehensive partnership agreement. They responded with enthusiasm, saying, "Let's definitely collaborate and deliver delicious rice to the children and residents."

Through these connections and support, Settsu City, the Settsu City Board of Education, and Osaka Evessa have collaborated to launch "Seimei's Rice Project."

Rice Planting Experience

Under a clear blue sky, Sakamoto began the work, her heart filled with excitement for the rice planting, an activity she hadn't done in a while. Despite the heat, she diligently planted seedlings with practiced hands, demonstrating the focus of a professional athlete. Her meticulous approach reflected her sincere personality.

Attempting to Operate a Rice Transplanter

According to Mr. Watanabe from Agrism Settsu Co., Ltd. and Mr. Murakami from JA Kita Osaka, who cooperated with us, hand-planting has become rare, with machine planting being the mainstream method. Therefore, Sakamoto also tried her hand at operating a rice transplanter! With a serious gaze, she focused on the unfamiliar operation, wishing, "May delicious rice grow."

Towards Future Activities

"Seimei's Rice Project" is a project filled with the wishes of children and residents, driven by Sakamoto's passionate desire and the united efforts of Mr. Watanabe from Agrism Settsu Co., Ltd., Ms. Inoue from the Settsu City Board of Education, Mr. Murakami from JA Kita Osaka, and Osaka Evessa. "WE Rice"

A rice variety cultivated only in Osaka Prefecture, mainly in Settsu City.

This rice is cultivated through a joint research project between JA Kita Osaka and Osaka Public University Corporation. It contains 7 times more dietary fiber and about twice as much gamma-oryzanol compared to regular brown rice. In Settsu City, it is used in school lunches and at local restaurants.
