HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, located opposite the World Heritage Site Nijo Castle in central Kyoto, has won the inaugural 'Triple Crown' award from Condé Nast Traveler, announced in June 2026. The accolade is reserved for hotels appearing on all three of the magazine's landmark lists: the Hot List (editor-curated top new openings), the Gold List (global editors' gold-standard picks), and the Readers' Choice Awards (voted by hundreds of thousands of readers). Eight hotels from Japan were selected. Opened in November 2020 on the former Mitsui family estate, the 160-room property features three restaurants and bars, a natural hot-spring spa, and carries the brand concept 'Embracing Japan's Beauty.' It holds three Michelin Keys for two consecutive years, ranked 46th in The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025, and has earned Forbes Travel Guide five-star status for five straight years. A sister property, HOTEL THE MITSUI HAKONE, is set to open in Hakone-Kowakidani in 2026.
