Background

Located within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park (*1), Hoshinoya Fuji sits on a hillside at an elevation of approximately 840–940 meters. As nights grow longer during this season, the forest floor reveals nuts and mushrooms, and the presence of wildlife becomes palpable. This is nature at its most generous. Together with Glamping Masters, guests are invited to enjoy a stay that reconnects them with nature. Beyond simply escaping urban noise, the experience aims to offer a refreshing, intellectually enriching journey into the rhythms of the natural world.

This activity invites guests to explore the forest of northern Fuji, searching for nuts and mushrooms from native trees such as cedar and cypress. Led by Hoshinoya Fuji's Glamping Masters, guests will walk along the soft, leaf-covered paths of the Cloud Terrace, savoring the ever-changing beauty of autumn—the gentle breeze, soft sunlight, and rich natural atmosphere.

A special lounge appears in the forest for only three nights each month—during the full moon and the days immediately before and after. During this season of crisp air and radiant moonlight, the experience draws from the local tradition of "tsukimachi," where people gather to await the moonrise and enjoy conversation. Guests can sip limited-edition moon-inspired cocktails while reading books about the moon or enjoying shadow play under moonlight, all while warming themselves by a crackling bonfire.

"Fragrant Forest Distillation" allows guests to experience the scents of distilled water extracted from natural forest materials. Selected ingredients include native hinoki cypress, mugwort flowers that bloom in autumn with a refreshing fragrance, and pinecones—elements that color the northern foothills of Fuji. In the crisp forest air, guests can explore the deep essence of the autumn forest through scent, as each drop is carefully distilled before their eyes.
