While receiving lectures from the staff of Unkai Terrace, children can experience actually operating the gondola.
Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, a nature wonder resort where you can feel the vast land of Hokkaido, will hold the "Tomamu Kids Intern" program from June 1, 2026. This program is not a typical, manual-driven "simulated experience." It offers real work at "authentic sites" where the heartbeat of cows, the sound of machinery, and the smiles of guests are close at hand, set in the Unkai Terrace, Farm Area, and Front Desk. This is a "real social experience at a travel destination" that can only be found here, involving tasks related to Tomamu's nature and spectacular views, and embodying the hospitality unique to a resort. Children who wear the same uniform as professionals and complete their responsible duties will be given point tickets called "Seeds" as compensation. Through the successful experience of "independence and contribution to others" by choosing souvenirs for their families with the Seeds they earned themselves, the program nurtures children's independence and intellectual curiosity.
Background
In an era where digitalization allows for easy simulated experiences of everything, our resort re-examined the value of "tangible, authentic experiences that can only be gained at a travel destination." With the slogan "My child and I are the protagonists," the "Tomamu Family Stay Project" proposes stays that become lifelong stories through experiences that excite the whole family. As part of this, we planned this program with the desire to evolve the travel destination from merely a "place of play (consumption)" into a "place of learning" where children can stand on the "provider" side through real work, feeling a connection to society and a sense of responsibility. Precisely because it is a tense environment directly connected to the lives of animals and the safety and joy of customers, the "work diary" and "salary (Seeds)" received after completion have special significance. It provides families with a time to truly feel their children's growth, seeing them look a little more mature than when they checked in.
Three Features of "Tomamu Kids Intern"
1. Three unique job types to experience the charm of Tomamu
We offer jobs that leverage Hokkaido's nature and Tomamu's regional characteristics. In the 2026 green season program, in addition to "Dairy Farmer," where children become a part of Farm Hoshino (*) and care for calves, and "Front Staff," which is the forefront of resort hospitality, a new "Unkai Gondola Maintenance Staff" position will be introduced. This experience delves into the behind-the-scenes of Unkai Terrace, born from the staff's desire to "deliver this spectacular view to guests."
* An agricultural project developed within the resort based on the concept of "Travel x Agriculture."

2. A travel destination becomes a "place of learning connected to society." Commitment to "authenticity" rather than simulated experiences.
Children actually pressing buttons and performing final inspections
This program is a place of learning connected to society, not a simulated experience, where children engage in real work utilizing Tomamu's nature and the hospitality unique to a resort. By seriously facing the lives of animals, safety, and the spirit of hospitality, such as the heartbeat of cows and the sound of gondola operation, children cultivate a genuine sense of responsibility. Before the experience, they learn their roles from a lecture sheet and practice wearing the same uniform as professionals. As proof, they create a "work diary" recording the individual names of the animals they were in charge of and the equipment they inspected. It provides families with a tangible experience where they can truly feel their children's growth, seeing them look a little more mature than when they checked in.
3. Point tickets "Seeds" that can be used within the resort, received after the experience.
"Seeds" received after each experience
After work, children receive 500 "Seeds," which are point tickets that can be used at shops in Tomamu The Tower and RISONARE Tomamu. 100 Seeds can be used as 100 yen for shopping. This program includes the successful experience of "making loved ones happy with one's own efforts" by using the Seeds earned to buy souvenirs for their families, creating a family story.
