KPMG Consulting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representatives: Minoru Seki, Atsushi Taguchi, Masahiko Chinno; hereinafter "KPMG Consulting") has supported UACJ Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Shinji Tanaka; hereinafter "UACJ") in enhancing business efficiency and sophistication within its indirect departments, focusing on generative AI, as part of UACJ’s company-wide initiatives to improve safety and productivity through automation and unmanned operations.

Under its long-term management vision "UACJ VISION 2030," UACJ aims to "contribute to a sustainable society by perfecting aluminum," identifying four key contribution areas: "focus on growth fields and markets," "expansion of value-added offerings through materials plus alpha," "creation and expansion into new domains," and "reduction of environmental impact." To achieve these goals, UACJ’s fourth medium-term management plan, launched in 2024, emphasizes "business resilience" as a core strategy, advancing initiatives to strengthen organizational agility and robustness through automation and unmanned operations (enhancing safety and productivity) in manufacturing sites and improving efficiency in indirect departments. The company is promoting AI adoption and DX (digital transformation) across the entire organization.

In this context, KPMG Consulting supported UACJ’s project to enhance efficiency and sophistication in indirect departments using generative AI to improve productivity. Following a strategy of starting small (quick wins) to build awareness of generative AI and gradually scaling up, a task force team was established to drive company-wide generative AI implementation. Subsequently, working collaboratively with UACJ, KPMG Consulting focused on the finance, human resources, and facilities departments, developing use cases for generative AI, creating prompts, and promoting employee adoption to address each department’s specific challenges. As a result, the initiative achieved an average workload reduction of approximately 50% in targeted operations, with some areas achieving time reductions of 70–80%. Currently, discussions are underway to further enhance business efficiency through generative AI and to strengthen the promotion framework via AX (AI Transformation).

Leveraging its accumulated expertise, high professional capabilities, and KPMG’s domestic and global networks, KPMG Consulting will continue to support transformative initiatives that address diverse challenges faced by enterprises.
