Nanoe X Generator Jointly Developed by JR East Technology and Panasonic Adopted for Sagami Railway's New "13000 Series" Vehicles

JR East Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as JR East Technology) and Panasonic Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Panasonic) have jointly developed a nanoe X generator, which has been adopted for Sagami Railway Co., Ltd.'s (hereinafter referred to as Sagami Railway) new "13000 series" vehicle, which began operation on March 30, 2026 (Monday). Sagami Railway has already introduced nanoe generators in its "20000 series" and "12000 series" vehicles, and this is the first time a nanoe X with further improved effectiveness has been adopted.

Panasonic's nanoe (※1) is a nano-sized fine particle ion generated by applying high voltage to moisture in the air, and it contains OH radicals that easily act on various substances. nanoe X, which increases the generation of these OH radicals by 10 times compared to conventional products, has diverse effects such as deodorization (※2) and suppression of allergens like bacteria (※3) and pollen (※4).

Railway vehicles are unique environments with frequent door openings and closings, passenger traffic, and long, narrow spaces. Therefore, to maximize the effect of nanoe, control is needed to spread it uniformly within the vehicle. Accordingly, JR East Technology and Panasonic considered optimal control for railway vehicles, and JR East Technology integrated a control power supply unit into Panasonic's nanoe X device to commercialize the product.

The "13000 series" is designed with the concept of "Safety x Peace of Mind x Elegant x Future" and features a sense of openness in its cabin space. The nanoe generator's proven performance in the "20000 series" and "12000 series" was evaluated, leading to the adoption of nanoe X to provide a more comfortable air environment and aim for improved comfort.

JR East Technology and Panasonic will continue to evolve nanoe technology specifically for railway vehicles, providing clean and comfortable railway vehicle spaces.
