Astemo, Ltd. (Astemo) and Hitachi, Ltd. (Hitachi) will build a new AI development platform to innovate the learning, verification, and deployment processes of AI (driving support AI) installed in autonomous vehicles. This move aims to accelerate vehicle intelligence in the era of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), ensuring safe and comfortable mobility through AI.

With the arrival of the SDV era, automakers face the common and complex challenge of continuously evolving their AI. Astemo and Hitachi believe it is essential to provide a stable AI development platform that incorporates safety philosophy from the design stage, autonomously evolves the development process, and can be used across the industry in the future.

By combining Astemo's strengths in vehicle integrated control and AI technology with Hitachi's digital twin environments, technologies for managing and anonymizing personal data, and capabilities in the social implementation of Physical AI, the companies will build this advanced development environment by the end of fiscal 2026. This platform integrates an AI infrastructure, a data infrastructure, and a data center.

Key features of the platform include: - AI learning that combines real-world driving data with massive amounts of data generated in digital twin environments for scenarios difficult to replicate in reality. - Sophisticated safety evaluations that incorporate complex factors such as component degradation and performance variation. - Achieving a balance between high-level safety and natural driving behavior that humans find comfortable. - Rapid feedback cycles to design, enabling faster and more advanced driving support AI development processes.

Through this initiative, Astemo plans to further enhance its IoV (Internet of Vehicle) platform, which serves as a development foundation for SDVs. In the future, the IoV platform, including this new base, will be expanded as a common platform for automakers and suppliers, helping them focus resources on value-added areas such as vehicle control and service development.

Furthermore, using this platform as a starting point, Astemo and Hitachi aim to promote data linkage across mobility, logistics, and energy sectors to form an ecosystem that generates social value transversely. This will innovate the mobility experience, making it safer and more comfortable, and contribute to a sustainable society where everyone can experience peace of mind and abundance.
