[Registration Open] 2nd J-PEP Seminar 'A New Framework for Information Provision on Participant Recruitment for Clinical Trials: Legal Points from the Perspective of Patient and Stakeholder Involvement' (June 15)

The Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) will hold an online 'J-PEP Seminar' for registrants of 'Japan’s Patient Expert Platform (J-PEP)'. J-PEP was launched on December 1, 2024, as an information and networking platform to support diverse patients and concerned parties in participating continuously and effectively in the policy-making process.

For the second seminar, we welcome Mr. Teppei Maeda (Attorney at Law, Maeda & Unozawa Law Office). On March 30, 2026, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare issued a notification titled 'Handling of Information Provision for Clinical Trials, etc.' In this seminar, considering the issues and legal points leading up to this notification from discussions at the Council for Regulatory Reform, we will explore how we should approach such clinical trial information from the perspective of patient and concerned party involvement, as well as future directions and challenges.

Teppei Maeda (Attorney at Law, Maeda & Unozawa Law Office)

Registered as an attorney in 2010. Since registration, he has been active in the fields of patient rights advocacy and the enactment of the Medical Basic Act. From 2012 to the present, he has served as an auditor for the NPO Patient Speaker Bank. He also serves as a defense lawyer for victims of the former Eugenic Protection Law, a writer for Asahi Shimbun's 'Ronza,' and an instructor for the Certified Nurse Administrator Education Program. His publications include 'Nursing Text NiCE New Edition: Nursing Management' (Co-author, Nankodo Co., Ltd., 2026) and 'A Book on Prevention and Response to "Patient Harassment" for Nurses' (Supervisor, Medical Friend Co., Ltd., 2026).
