The Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) will hold an online 'J-PEP Seminar' for registrants of 'Japan’s Patient Expert Platform (J-PEP)'. J-PEP was launched on December 1, 2024, as an information and networking platform to support diverse patients and concerned parties in participating continuously and effectively in the policy-making process.

For the second seminar, we welcome Mr. Teppei Maeda (Attorney at Law, Maeda & Unozawa Law Office). On March 30, 2026, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare issued a notification titled 'Handling of Information Provision for Clinical Trials, etc.' In this seminar, considering the issues and legal points leading up to this notification from discussions at the Council for Regulatory Reform, we will explore how we should approach such clinical trial information from the perspective of patient and concerned party involvement, as well as future directions and challenges.

[About Health and Global Policy Institute] https://hgpi.org/

The Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) is a non-profit, independent, non-partisan private health policy think tank established in 2004. To realize citizen-centered health policies, as an independent think tank, we have brought together a wide range of stakeholders and provided policy options to society. Without being bound by the positions of specific political parties or organizations, we maintain independence and provide new ideas and values from a broad, forward-looking perspective to realize a fair and healthy society. Since our establishment, we have promptly presented themes that were not sufficiently discussed at the time—such as women's health, cancer measures, dementia, antimicrobial resistance, regenerative medicine, and global health—as policy issues, contributing to concrete policy progress by reflecting them in the formation of legal systems and national strategies, and in international policy discussions. These continuous efforts have received a certain level of recognition from domestic and international policymakers and international organizations, and we continue to participate in international dialogue platforms as a health policy think tank originating from Japan.

We will continue to work with everyone to present effective health policy options not only in Japan but also to the world, and to solve global health and medical challenges.
