Yuichi Hirako

Born in Okayama in 1982, based in Tokyo. Graduated from Wimbledon College of Art in the UK with a painting major in 2006. His work explores the coexistence of plants and nature with humans, as well as the ambiguities and questions that arise from this relationship. Triggered by a sense of discomfort with defining human-controlled plants such as houseplants, street trees, and park plants as "nature," he pursues the boundary between nature and humans in contemporary society through his artwork. His expressive methods are diverse, centered on painting, including drawing, sculpture, installation, and sound performance. He actively exhibits his works overseas in countries such as Korea, Taiwan, the UK, and the USA.
