Domestic Coffee Owner System Launched (From 500 yen/month)

Hamasato Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Wakayama Prefecture, Representative: Minamura) has launched "a cup of support project," a new initiative to support domestic coffee producers.

Background

While coffee is an indispensable part of daily life for Japanese people, "domestic coffee" produced in Japan is extremely rare, with its distribution volume said to be less than 1% of the global total.

Amidst this, there are farmers in Wakayama, a region with a warm climate, an environment suitable for fruit cultivation, and a deeply rooted fermentation culture, who are challenging themselves to grow domestic coffee.

However, coffee is a crop that requires several years from seedling planting to harvesting and sales. Furthermore, domestic production methods have not yet been established, posing a high hurdle to building a stable production system.

Project Overview

"A cup of support project" is a system where consumers support the period until coffee can be harvested and sold, with a "daily cup's worth" of assistance. Supporters can contribute to coffee cultivation and farm maintenance through a monthly donation of 500 yen (approximately the cost of one cup of coffee).

Supporters are not just benefactors; they can also "as one of the coffee farm owners" watch over the growth process together.
