The popular manga 'Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen' by Hiroshi Shiibashi, currently serialized in 'Ultra Jump,' is confirmed for a TV anime adaptation!
New information was revealed at the 'Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen' Anime Announcement Commemorative Stage, held at the Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures booth during AnimeJapan 2026 at Tokyo Big Sight on March 28th and 29th!
Taichi Bando, Yuki Sakakihara, and Kento Ito took the stage, where the broadcast support visual, the second promotional video, additional characters & cast, and the July broadcast premiere were unveiled.
This work was first published as a one-shot on 'Shonen Jump+' on March 30, 2020, before starting its serialization in 'Ultra Jump' in March 2021.
The story is set in Japan in the 1910s. Kodo Iwamoto, a student at the army-affiliated Seihō Middle School, is tasked by military order to investigate supernatural phenomena occurring across the country and recommend individuals with abilities usable for military purposes to the academy. It is a romantic strange tale depicting the human drama between Iwamoto, who seeks to save them, and the ability-users with various backgrounds he meets at his destinations.
Broadcast Support Visual Unveiled To commemorate the July 2026 broadcast decision, a special visual has been released. The visual features the previously revealed Iwamoto, Haramachi, and Amo smiling towards the viewer.
Additional Characters & Cast Revealed, Comments Arrived! **Kitsushiro Bōkyo (CV: Akira Ishida)** The headmaster of Seihō Middle School. A mysterious figure with an angelic appearance. His office has a lot of delicious tea. He dotes on Iwamoto and gives him orders for investigations in various places.
