10th Anniversary of Reunion x 50th Anniversary of Photography - 2026 is a Fateful Anniversary Year
THE YELLOW MONKEY, a rock band celebrating their 35th anniversary and continuously breaking their own records. 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of their legendary performance at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, where they achieved their reunion. Meanwhile, photographer MITCH IKEDA was the primary photographer for their historic tour "THE YELLOW MONKEY SUPER JAPAN TOUR 2016," which kicked off with that reunion live, and in 2017, he held the still-talked-about photo exhibition "mitch ikeda Photo Exhibition: rocks2 'Great Revival the yellow monkey'." For Mr. IKEDA, 2026 will be the milestone of his 50th anniversary as a photographer.
With these significant milestones coinciding in 2026, it is a fateful anniversary year, a miraculous encounter. To commemorate this occasion, a commemorative photobook will be published to celebrate the 10th anniversary of THE YELLOW MONKEY's revival, featuring carefully selected photographs from the "Great Revival the yellow monkey" exhibition, which drew over 5,000 people and is still cherished by fans, as well as previously unreleased, treasured photos that Mr. IKEDA had been waiting for the right moment to share. This highly anticipated work by MITCH IKEDA and THE YELLOW MONKEY marks their third collaboration, following "SYN THE YELLOW MONKEY LENSMAN MITCH IKEDA" (2000) and "Looking at Each Other" (2018).
