The "Manga Award," established in 2008, is a manga award operated by a volunteer executive committee, and this year marks its 19th iteration. Volunteers from various professions, including bookstore clerks, serve as judges, aiming to promote works that people feel "I want to recommend this to someone right now."

The selection criteria include published books (including e-books) released in the previous year (January 1st to December 31st) with a maximum of 8 volumes. The top 10 works (nominees) selected in the preliminary round are thoroughly read and ranked by the judges to determine the year's "Manga Award."
