■ Original Works Born from Children's 'Questions'
At this presentation, numerous one-of-a-kind works emerged, where children used technology to shape the 'nagging feelings' or 'desire to convey something' they discovered in their daily lives.
Here are some of them:
Title: 'Friend Count Up'
[Background]: Inspired by the real desire to 'become friends quickly with everyone in the new class!' at the start of the new semester.
[Overview]: An app that counts the days since the new class started, counts down to a goal, and increases a 'friendship level' when missions are completed. A wonderful idea that turns the anxiety of a new semester into excitement.
Title: 'Smile Mart'
[Background]: Noticing that her 2-year-old sister disliked diaper changes and brushing her teeth, the developer decided to create this app out of kindness for her family, wanting her sister to be happy.
[Overview]: A life support app designed to help young children enjoy their daily lives with a smile. A work that symbolizes griteen's spirit of inquiry, solving the problems of those close to you through programming.
Title: '★CLEANUP×COIN GAME★'
[Background]: Noticing that the school teacher often said 'Let's pick up trash,' the developer started from the simple question: 'I've never played a trash-picking game before, so I want to make one!'
[Overview]: A game where collecting trash earns you coins. You can use the coins to shop and decorate your in-game house. A socially-conscious entertainment piece packed with fun design and UI.
Title: 'Spring Hike'
[Background]: Inspired by a high perspective of wanting to share the 'joy of interacting with nature' felt in the mountains with everyone, in an era where environmental issues and destruction are often discussed.
[Overview]: A story-driven work where characters enjoy a spring day hike. A masterpiece featuring a branching system based on the player's 'fateful choices' and meticulously crafted character dialogue.

■ Event Highlights
① 'Scratch Festival' Where Students' Works Become 'Stalls' for Mutual Play
Part 1 featured a 'Scratch Festival' where children set up their original games and apps like festival stalls. Participants experienced each other's works, exclaiming 'That's cool!' and 'How did you make that?'. By having a design perspective focused on 'making the player smile' and feeling the user's reactions firsthand, the children's self-esteem blossomed.
② A Serious 3-Minute Challenge: 'Inquiry Presentation Session'
Part 2 consisted of stage presentations. Using 'Idea,' 'Design,' and 'Presentation' as evaluation criteria, each student had 3 minutes to present. Addressing familiar challenges like 'I want to stop forgetting things' or 'I want to get along better with my friends,' they confidently explained in their own words 'why they made it' and 'what obstacles they overcame,' earning big applause from the parents and instructors.
③ 'Awards Ceremony' Honoring Challenge and Perseverance (Grit)
Finally, an awards ceremony was held to honor the works, each shining with individuality. Beyond winning awards, the very fact that they 'completed their work and presented it in front of others' became a moment of lifelong confidence for the children.
Feedback from participating parents included:
'It was a great experience to hear many students' presentations, which boosted my child's motivation and provided good stimulation.'
'I'm glad I could present in front of everyone.'
'Since it's usually an online school, meeting other students offline and being exposed to so many ideas was very stimulating for my child.'
'Having the opportunity to present her work in front of everyone like this was a chance for my daughter to gain a lot of confidence.'
'It was impressive to see how happy my child was to have teachers and other students see her work and give feedback. This will be a great foundation for future projects.'
Through this event, students and their families were able to once again experience the value that griteen provides.
■ Comment from CEO Haruka Tada
'At this project presentation, each child took on the challenge of creating original works starting from their own 'likes' and 'interests.'
What was particularly impressive to me while listening to the presentations was that they were creating works for themselves or someone close to them, such as 'I want to get along better with my friends' or 'I want to make my little sister smile.' It reminded me that programming is not just a skill, but a creative tool to solve someone's problems or give shape to your feelings with your own ideas.
At griteen, our goal is not just to teach programming skills. We value cultivating the ability to pose one's own questions, shape ideas through trial and error, and communicate them in one's own words. I'm sure there were many failures and obstacles along the way to completion. Nevertheless, the experience of seeing it through and confidently presenting in front of many people will be a great source of confidence in their lives ahead.
Going forward, griteen will continue to provide a place where girls can accumulate successful experiences, believing 'I can do it too,' and cultivate the power to carve out their own future through programming.'
■ About Griteen Inc.
Griteen Inc. is a programming education startup founded in February 2024.
