Announcement of the Start of a Demonstration Experiment to Connect Stations and Autonomous Taxis: Installation of an App-Exclusive Taxi Stand at JR Shin-Osaka Station

West Japan Railway Company, JR West Rent-a-Car & Lease Company, and GO Inc. are proceeding with studies aimed at realizing a smooth connection between stations and future autonomous taxis.

As a first step, we will be installing an app-exclusive taxi stand, the first of its kind at a railway station in West Japan, at JR Shin-Osaka Station. We are commencing a demonstration experiment with the objective of identifying operational challenges. By establishing an app-exclusive taxi stand on the 1st floor of JR Shin-Osaka Station, customers will be able to smoothly order a taxi through the app.

An exclusive taxi stand for the "GO" taxi app will be installed on the 1st floor of JR Shin-Osaka Station.

Experiment Period
From 13:00 on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, to Friday, July 31, 2026 (scheduled).

Location
JR Shin-Osaka Station 1st floor, in front of the station rental car office (guidance on the route will be described later).

How to Use
After downloading the "GO" taxi app, by selecting the Shin-Osaka Station area when ordering, the 1st-floor app-exclusive stand will be set as the boarding location, and orders can be placed.

｜Aim of This Experiment

When autonomous taxis are implemented in the future, it is crucial to develop a safe and smooth boarding/alighting environment at stations, where taxi demand is high and congestion is likely to occur. In this demonstration experiment, as a first step, we will install a new app-exclusive taxi stand to confirm safety and verify operational issues.

1. After exiting the Shin-Osaka Station South Exit改札 (3rd floor), please proceed straight ahead.
2. Descend to the 2nd floor using the stairs or escalator on your right.
3. After arriving on the 2nd floor, descend to the 1st floor using the stairs or escalator on your left.
4. After arriving on the 1st floor, proceed straight ahead to your right, and you will arrive at the app-exclusive taxi stand in front of the station rental car office.
