Key Point 1: All three indicators – number of medical malls, clinics, and pharmacies – continue to increase.

As of May 2026, the number of domestic medical malls stands at 3,032 facilities (+30 facilities compared to November 2025), with 11,578 clinics within malls (+165 facilities) and 2,543 pharmacies (+57 facilities), indicating steady market expansion. In terms of areas, the concentrated structure in large cities continues, with 76.7% of facilities located in the major areas of Tokyo Metropolis, Chiba, Saitama, Kanagawa, Osaka, and Hyogo.

Key Point 2: Changes in the pharmacy landscape. Ein HD becomes the share leader with the acquisition of Sakura Pharmacy Group.

In the ranking of pharmacy operating companies (HD/Groups) operating within medical malls, Ein Holdings significantly increased its count from 83 to 140 facilities, surpassing Matsukiyo Cocokara & Company, which was the previous leader, to take first place. This reflects the acquisition of Craft Co., Ltd., which operates the Sakura Pharmacy Group, and the wave of industry consolidation is significantly impacting the medical mall market. Pharmacies: The rate of pharmacy integration in new malls is 82.0%. The top-ranking pharmacies for new openings are Nihon Chozai, Aisei Pharmacy, and Ein Pharmacies, with a noticeable trend of decentralized openings by major chains.
