The first essay book by Aimi Satsukawa, an actor active in numerous films, dramas, and stage plays, titled 'Practicing Living for Myself Today', will be released by Gentosha on June 10.

Since her screen debut in the film 'Semishigure', Aimi Satsukawa has played memorable roles in many works. This book records the journey of Satsukawa, now in her late 30s, as she reexamines her own identity while swaying between 'acting' and 'living'.

Her workplace in films, encounters during solo travels, yearning for a normal life, and challenges outside of acting.

Realizing she had been putting her own feelings last to meet the expectations of those around her, she chronicles in frank words the process of realizing the importance of making choices, taking action, and living life for herself, rather than for someone else.

The foundation of this book is the series 'How Long Will I Be Full of Myself?', which started in September 2021 on Gentosha plus and is still ongoing. New writings have been added to selected texts from over 100 serializations. Essays about her two years of hotel living, which were not revealed during the serialization, are also included.

It is an essay that gently pushes the backs of all people living every day while worrying about work and relationships.

Comment from Ms. Satsukawa

In the past, I had a tendency to strongly feel 'I have to do things properly'.

However, I gradually began to realize that living for oneself does not mean doing everything perfectly, but acknowledging one's own feelings.

Finding joy in everyday life. Cheering for myself.

Moving forward while carrying everything: the days I couldn't do well, the pain of not being able to protect things, and the feelings of frustration.

That, too, might be what it means to 'live for oneself'.

This book is filled with the me from ages 33 to 37, who has been practicing imperfectly to 'live for myself'.

I would be happy if you could read it lightheartedly, thinking, 'So there are people like this, too.'
