Cumulative print run of physical editions surpasses 46 million copies (as of 2023)! Serialized across the Showa and Heisei eras in Weekly Manga Sunday (Shogakukan Nihonsha), 'Shizukanaru Don' has thrilled readers across Japan with laughter and emotion. Now, the legendary 108-volume Mansan Comics series (Shogakukan Nihonsha) returns in an unprecedented era with an unparalleled art book. This 240-page, full-color volume brings together the author's favorite iconic scenes and previously unreleased illustrations, presented as a magnificent collector's edition.

'Shizukanaru Don' is a unique yakuza entertainment series that blends comedy, romance, and action. It debuted in the November 15, 1988 (Showa 63) issue of Weekly Manga Sunday (Shogakukan Nihonsha) and delighted readers for 25 consecutive years until 2013 (Heisei 25). Today, a new series titled 'Shizukanaru Don—Mou Hitotsu no Saishuushou—' ('Another Final Chapter') is being co-published in the same magazine and Grand Jump (Shueisha). In 2025 (Reiwa 7), Tatsuo Nitta will mark the 50th anniversary since his professional debut with 'Oni no Daidokoro' ('The Kitchen Demon'). This art book, published by Genkosha, is a special project commemorating his remarkable artistic career.

'I want to keep drawing wildly imaginative manga, even in an age that values realism!' declares Tatsuo Nitta with unwavering creative passion. This book compiles original artwork from all 108 volumes of the 'Shizukanaru Don' Mansan Comics series (Shogakukan Nihonsha), enriched with extensive commentary by Nitta himself, offering deep insight into the essence of emotionally compelling storytelling. It also explains the historical, military, and geopolitical knowledge intricately woven into the narrative, revealing the creative techniques of a master storyteller.

What makes 'Shizukanaru Don' so captivating are its numerous distinctive characters. This book thoroughly dissects the appeal of protagonist Shizuka Kondo and his lover Akemi Akiyama, as well as iconic figures from the Shinsei Group and Kishu Clan—including successive clan leaders, senior women (ane-san), Ryuuji Naruto, Ryuko Kunimitsu, and Shinyahara Shihachi.
