90% of Participants Want to Return! Gaiax Leverages Entrepreneurial Support Expertise for Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration, Managing Events for Kyoto's Innovation Community 'KLIS-X'

Gaiax Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuji Ueda; hereafter 'Gaiax') has been commissioned to plan and manage events for the 'Life Science Ecosystem Construction Project' promoted by Kyoto City and the Kyoto Institute of Technology and Science (ASTEM), and has held the kickoff forum and meetups for the co-creation community 'KLIS-X'. In this project, Gaiax introduced its expertise in 'incubation'—the process of organizing issues for commercialization—and 'community management that turns passion into results,' which it uses daily as a startup studio to support entrepreneurs. As a result, 90% of participants at the second meetup expressed a desire to attend the next event, realizing a practical, problem-solving co-creation space that goes beyond simple business card exchanges. Kyoto City and ASTEM established 'KLIS-X' in October 2025 to accelerate the social implementation of excellent technology seeds in the life science field held by universities and companies. It is a platform where university researchers, startups, large corporations, SMEs, support organizations, and investors cross their professional boundaries to combine their knowledge and networks, creating opportunities for new collaborations and entrepreneurship. Gaiax was commissioned to plan and manage the core events of this community, recognized for its operational know-how from the global deep-tech pitch contest 'XTC JAPAN' and its extensive track record as a startup studio. Gaiax increased the resolution of issues by providing 'issue worksheets' and 'presentation formats' to pitch presenters in advance. Furthermore, it adopted 'intentional table arrangements' and 'small-group circle dialogue formats' to encourage active discussion, ensuring participants could engage with a sense of ownership. Additionally, Shinya Kasuga, General Partner at IT-Farm, was invited as an advisor to incorporate global perspectives and investor viewpoints. In fiscal year 2025, the company held a kickoff forum with 174 participants and meetups where academia and startups mingled, generating high participation intent and concrete results. Gaiax will continue to contribute to the formation of a life science ecosystem from Kyoto to the world by growing the community into a 'sustainable and autonomous result-creation process.'
