Funabashiya, a manufacturer and retailer of kuzumochi and anmitsu, will sell a special gift set titled 'Tastes Enjoyed by Ryunosuke Akutagawa' at the lobby of Takinogawa Hall on July 24, 2026, in conjunction with the event 'Kappa-ki 2026: Grandchildren Discuss Ryunosuke Akutagawa and Kan Kikuchi.' This event is a special project held on the anniversary of Ryunosuke Akutagawa's death. Mako Akutagawa, the granddaughter of Ryunosuke Akutagawa, and Natsuki Kikuchi, the grandson of Kan Kikuchi, will take the stage to share stories about the authors' interactions and family anecdotes. Funabashiya, founded in 1805, has a deep connection with Akutagawa, who famously enjoyed their kuzumochi during his student days and mentioned the shop in his writing. On the day of the event, the company will collaborate with other historic shops such as Usagiya, Cafe Paulista, Chomeiji, Umezono, and Izuei to offer a special assortment of flavors loved by the author. Prices start at 1,200 yen, and quantities are limited.
