On Sunday, May 31st, Fukuoka University's taiko drumming club (Kobu-saru) participated in the "Taiko Festival 7th National 7-Person Taiko Drumming Championship" held at Claire Konosu (Konosu City, Saitama Prefecture) and achieved their first championship victory.

Sixteen groups, selected from taiko organizations nationwide that passed the video preliminary rounds, competed in the tournament (9 groups in the general division, 7 groups in the women's division). Kobu-saru from our university delivered a stage performance full of power and dynamism within the 5-minute time limit, captivating the audience and judges.

Since achieving second place in this tournament in 2023, the team has worked together as one to achieve their long-awaited first championship.

Kobu-saru performs a powerful rendition. 16 groups that passed the preliminary rounds participated.

- Thoughts after the tournament We are extremely happy to have achieved the valuable result of "championship," a first in Kobu-saru's history. On Sunday, September 6th, we will hold Kobu-saru's largest event, the "15th Regular Concert: Ki-WADACHI-" at the Fukuoka Civic Hall.
