Grand Hyatt Fukuoka (1-2-82 Sumiyoshi, Hakata-ku, General Manager: Jo Sato) has created an original yatai with a new design that incorporates the traditional craft of "Kokura-ori" from Kokura, Fukuoka, into the design of the yatai body and roof, to commemorate its 30th anniversary in 2026. This yatai will be available for use from April 10, 2026.
"What kind of experiences can we offer at your hotel?"
When hosting domestic and international banquets and events, including MICE, this question is often asked. Fukuoka is synonymous with "food," and the symbol of Fukuoka is "yatai" (food stalls). At Grand Hyatt Fukuoka, we have created "iconic experiences" that go beyond just serving food by offering an authentic yatai experience within our banquet rooms. Initially, we offered rentals, but with the desire to "create a yatai that speaks of Fukuoka with our own hands," we developed an original yatai made of cypress wood with traditional Japanese joinery in 2023 (pictured right). Its sophisticated and authentic appearance was well-received, and it has grown into a popular feature used in many banquets. Now, a new yatai has been born to mark our 30th anniversary.
