Fuji TV's video streaming service FOD has announced the exclusive streaming launch of the drama 'Kiss After the Investigation,' produced by ABC TV (Kansai), starting July 26, 2025, at 25:05 JST. The series will air on ABC TV weekly starting July 26 (Sun) at 24:10 JST, with the first episode airing at 24:35.

'Kiss After the Investigation' is a live-action adaptation of the popular BL manga of the same name. A sequel titled 'Kiss After the Investigation Again' (J Publishing) is set to release in May 2026 and has already surpassed 150,000 copies in circulation, drawing significant attention. The original manga has garnered widespread acclaim for its nuanced portrayal of the contrasting relationship between a warm-hearted senior detective and a talented yet emotionally reserved junior officer. Its charm lies in the delicate depiction of unspoken feelings and gradually closing emotional gaps, all wrapped in witty, comedic dialogue.

Set in a rural town police station, the story follows Detective Tago, a kind and beloved senior officer, and Shio, an elite junior detective who inexplicably treats Tago with coldness and sarcasm. The two actors, both alumni of the Junon Super Boy Contest and hailing from Akita Prefecture, reunite for the first time as co-leads, bringing chemistry and comedic timing to their roles as a 10-year age-gap police duo.

【Synopsis】

Love and crime both happen at the scene.

At Yamanomichi Police Station in a quiet rural town, Detective Chief Tago Heisuke (Wataru Yabe) is a kind-hearted, people-friendly detective beloved by the local community.

Meanwhile, Shio Shu (Riu Saito), an elite officer from the Public Safety Division, acts coldly and sarcastically toward Tago, making him seem like a natural rival.

Even in their shared single officers' dorm, the two are like cats and dogs in private. However, beneath Shio's cold demeanor lies a hidden affection for Tago...

Feeling irritated by Tago's universally kind 'people-pleasing' attitude, Shio grows increasingly frustrated when Tago is offered a blind date with a woman in her 20s.
