Shimoda Aquarium (Location: 3-22-31 Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, General Manager: Koichi Keino), an experiential aquarium, announces its Summer Vacation Special Exhibition themed around the summer sea of Shimoda City, to be held from Saturday, July 18, 2026, to Monday, September 7, 2026.

◇ About the Summer Vacation Special Exhibition

Summer means "the sea." Have you been to the sea yet? It's July, the heat of midsummer continues, and it's the season when marine leisure activities are in full swing. It's also an interesting season when you can easily see many creatures in and around the swimming beaches. The theme of this special exhibition is "Let's go play in the sea." We will exhibit fish that can be observed in the actual sea in tanks that recreate the sandy and rocky shore areas found in Shimoda's sea. As aquarium staff will directly collect and add new specimens throughout the exhibition period, you can observe the transition of marine life from early summer to early autumn in real-time. We hope this will be an opportunity for many people to go to the sea and learn about its charm. In addition to fish, we will also introduce equipment and tools for safely enjoying the sea, such as waterproof boots and nets.
