Fujikyu Bus Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fujikawaguchiko Town, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture; President: Takeshi Furuya), a member of the Fujikyu Group, will launch a new late-night service on the highway bus "Mt. Fuji 5th Station Line," which connects Busta Shinjuku and Mt. Fuji 5th Station (Yoshida Entrance), starting July 3, 2026 (Fri). This new service aims to accommodate the growing demand for dispersed climbing to avoid peak hours and for early morning ascents during the Mt. Fuji climbing season.
This service is designed to meet the needs of early morning ascents from Mt. Fuji 5th Station (Yoshida Entrance). The bus will depart from Busta Shinjuku at 23:25 and is scheduled to arrive at Mt. Fuji 5th Station at 2:00 AM. In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for dispersed climbing times to alleviate congestion and improve safety. Consequently, there is a rising need for climbing plans that allow for a start in the early morning, when crowds are relatively thinner, without undue strain. This new service has been established as a new means of access to support such climbing styles. It will make it easier for people in the Tokyo metropolitan area to plan early morning ascents using only public transportation, expanding options for those aiming to see the sunrise or avoid crowds, and enabling more flexible and convenient climbing plans. Furthermore, as it is a direct service, passengers can access Mt. Fuji 5th Station directly without transfers, reducing the travel burden for climbers. For early morning ascents via the Yoshida Trail, it is sometimes possible to view the sunrise and magnificent sea of clouds from parts of the trail before reaching the summit.
Why not consider starting your climb this year before the crowds intensify by utilizing the new late-night service, and enjoy the unique early morning scenery in the crisp air?
New Late-Night Direct Service to Mt. Fuji 5th Station
A new late-night direct service (Bus No. 1475) from Busta Shinjuku will be established to coincide with the early morning entry times for Mt. Fuji 5th Station (Yoshida Entrance). Previously, individuals using public transportation from the Tokyo metropolitan area to start climbing early in the morning often had to stay overnight or make multiple transfers. However, with this new service, it is possible to access Mt. Fuji 5th Station from Busta Shinjuku without transfers, broadening the choices for transportation to early morning ascents.
