BUSCA LLC (Headquarters: Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Representative: Shoma Toida), which operates "FROM ARTIST," an online marketplace connecting artists and art fans nationwide, has officially started handling the new "Crafts" genre. Along with this release, we are starting to recruit new exhibitors from a wide range of craft artists, including potters, glass artists, woodworkers, and metalworkers active throughout Japan.

Background to the Start of Handling: Evolution from a "Two-Dimensional" to a "Comprehensive Art" Platform

Until now, "FROM ARTIST" has primarily handled two-dimensional works, mainly paintings, providing a platform for numerous artists to showcase and sell their creations.

During this time, we have continuously received requests from exhibiting artists and users alike, expressing desires to "buy and sell three-dimensional objects such as pottery and forged metalworks" and "handle art that can be used in daily life (utility and beauty)." In particular, we have heard many earnest voices from artists stating that "compared to paintings, there are fewer platforms for crafts to be exhibited or handled online, making it difficult to deliver works to fans nationwide."

In recent art markets, there has been growing attention both domestically and internationally to "contemporary craft" and "lifestyle craft," which blend traditional techniques with modern sensibilities. We believe that providing a new stage for craft artists seeking exhibition opportunities, along with disseminating Japan's diverse craft techniques and new expressions to the world, is essential for the future development of the entire art industry. This conviction led to the establishment of the new "Crafts" genre.
