We are pleased to announce that the recommerce operating system "Retailor," provided by Free Standard Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Takao Harimoto), has been adopted as the foundation for the official reuse project of action sports brands managed by Boardriders Japan K.K. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).
For this project, the company will conduct a trade-in and collection drive for products customers have cherished, running for a limited time from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, to Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Background: Resource Circulation to Protect Action Sports Fields Boardriders Japan, whose fields of play are the oceans and mountains, is strengthening its efforts toward realizing a sustainable society. The company is launching an official brand-authorized reuse project across its six major brands.
By having the brands officially manage secondary distribution—which was previously left to individual peer-to-peer sales—and utilizing the "Retailor" platform, the company will build a circulation cycle covering a wide range of categories, including professional-grade surf and snow gear. By responsibly collecting beloved apparel and gear and connecting them to the next customer, the company aims to protect the fields of play and create a new lifestyle together with the community that loves these sports.
Project Features: Simultaneous Launch Across 6 Brands and Wide Collection Categories This project is a large-scale initiative in which the global action sports brands owned by Boardriders Japan are joining forces, rather than being limited to a single brand.
Joint Implementation by 6 Brands The brands included in the collection are QUIKSILVER, ROXY, BILLABONG, DC, ELEMENT, and RVCA. By transcending brand boundaries, the project will accelerate resource circulation across the entire action sports scene.
Wide Range of Collection Categories from Gear to Apparel In addition to standard apparel, a wide range of items including wetsuits and snow gear (boots, goggles, gloves, etc.) will be accepted. *Note: Snow gear is limited to products released within the last three years.
Trade-in Incentives to Encourage Circulation Customers will receive coupons that can be used for future purchases based on the items collected. This promotes a positive cycle where "letting go" of an item becomes a step toward a "new challenge."
Implementation Overview Implementation Period: Wednesday, April 1, 2026 – Sunday, April 19, 2026 Participating Brands: QUIKSILVER, ROXY, BILLABONG, DC, ELEMENT, RVCA Eligible Items: Apparel, wetsuits, snow gear (boots, goggles, gloves, etc. *released within 3 years) Incentives: Coupons provided based on traded-in items
