Gunma Flower Park Plus Announces 'Hydrangea Festival' Featuring 5,000 Blooms and First Indoor 'Hananeko Marche'

Gunma Flower Park Plus (Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture), which reopened in autumn 2025 under the concept 'Enjoy! Play with Flowers,' will hold its major early summer fair, the 'Hydrangea Festival,' from Saturday, June 13 to Friday, July 17, 2026.

As 5,000 hydrangea plants—one of the park's signature flowers—paint the park in vibrant colors, we will offer numerous indoor events and gourmet programs to enjoy seasonal flavors, regardless of the rainy season weather.

Four Major Topics of the 'Hydrangea Festival'

1. 5,000 Colorful Hydrangeas in Bloom
About 5,000 hydrangeas will reach their peak. Hydrangeas are a staple crop in Gunma Prefecture and a signature flower for Gunma Flower Park Plus.
We will feature colorful hydrangeas bred in Gunma, along with elegant pink and white Annabelles and Panicle hydrangeas. Furthermore, early summer flowers like Rudbeckia, herbs, and sunflowers will bloom, coloring the park for early summer.

2. 'Rainy Day WEEK' (June 20 – July 5) – Two Weeks of Fun, Rain or Shine!
To ensure guests can enjoy their visit despite the rainy season, we are holding 'Rainy Day WEEK' from Saturday, June 20 to Sunday, July 5. Indoor events and a free 'Hydrangea Walk Rally' visiting indoor photo spots will be available. From June 20 to July 3, we will provide a free 'Indoor Play & Mini Theater' area in the Kokage Tent and Minamo Terrace Atrium, featuring musical instrument spaces and ball pits for preschoolers.

3. First Ever! 'Hananeko Marche' (July 4 – 5) – An Indoor Flower and Cat Event
For two days on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, we will host our first-ever indoor cat market at the Minamo Terrace and Kokage Tent. It will feature cat goods, cat food, and cute flower/cat-themed accessories, along with a visitor-participation photo contest and a rescue cat adoption session.

4. Afternoon Tea Featuring Seasonal Melon and Limited Workshops
Limited programs to luxuriously enjoy early summer flowers and food will appear in park cafes and atriums.

Hydrangea and Melon Afternoon Tea (June 21, 27, 28)
Enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea themed around beautiful hydrangeas and seasonal melons (4,500 yen).

Hydrangea and Matcha Mini Marche (June 13, 14)
At Teien Sabo, we will host a market centered on Japanese sweets themed around hydrangeas, matcha, and refreshing vibes.

Hydrangea Retreat (June 20)
A luxurious one-day event where you can experience making a hydrangea bouquet with a florist, including special sweets and a souvenir (7,700 yen).
