[Upopoy] Shiraoi, Hokkaido | Announcement of New Annual Passport Design

Upopoy (Symbolic Space for Ethnic Harmony), operated by the Ainu Ethnic Culture Foundation (Chuo-ku, Sapporo; Board Chairman: Teruki Tsunemoto), will host an announcement event for its new annual passport designs on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The new annual passport will be available in two designs. One highlights the appeal and dignity of Ainu culture, while the other—created by picture book author Sora, the creator of the Upopoy PR character 'Tureppon'—is designed to be approachable for first-time visitors and families.

The event will also feature an autograph session with Sora. Additionally, the facility will launch a novelity gift benefit for annual passport members at participating tenants, further strengthening the Upopoy brand.

■ Sora and Tureppon
Sora is a picture book author and illustrator based in Hokkaido. Major works include the 'Ezo Momonga' character for the JR Hokkaido 'Kitaca' IC card, the Hokkaido tourism PR character 'Kyunchan,' and the 'Shirokuma-kun' picture book series.
