Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki Project (Location: Kita-ku, Oyodonaka, Osaka City; Chief Operating Officer: Shigeru Oshima) will hold an event to experience the charm of Japanese tea on August 22, 2026 (Sat) at Fairfield by Marriott Kyoto Minamiyamashiro, inviting Japanese tea instructor Mika Hasegawa.

Fairfield by Marriott Michi-no-Eki Project operates 29 accommodation-focused hotels nationwide, advocating a travel style of "exploring the unknown charms of regions" with hotels as bases. This project's concept is "Quest the Unknown Japan," aiming for guests to discover unique regional experiences and lesser-known attractions across the country. This event is also being held to allow guests to experience the charms of Minamiyamashiro Village, Kyoto Prefecture, more deeply.

Minamiyamashiro Village is known as the only village in Kyoto Prefecture, where a nostalgic rural lifestyle thrives amidst serene mountain scenery. The landscape, with its clear morning and evening air, mist rising in the mountains, and tea fields bathed in soft sunlight, possesses a unique beauty. This natural environment cultivates Uji tea, known for its fragrant and deep flavor, making it a highly regarded tea-producing region nationwide.

Against the backdrop of this unique regional character, this event offers an opportunity to enjoy Japanese tea more intimately.

On the day, we will welcome Japanese tea instructor Mika Hasegawa, who has prepared an experience themed around "cold tea," perfect for the hot month of August. We will introduce a wide range of topics, including how to brew delicious cold tea in a short time using tea leaves from Minamiyamashiro Village, tips for easily recreating it at home, and how to enjoy arranged cold tea with fragrant herbal syrups. The content will allow you to experience new flavors of Japanese tea alongside a visually refreshing cup.

Additionally, at the roadside station "Ocha no Kyoto Minamiyamashiro Village," adjacent to the hotel, menus using tea leaves from Minamiyamashiro are popular among many visitors. Rich matcha sweets and original drinks, among other items that can only be enjoyed here, are available, allowing you to feel the region's tea culture even more closely. Visiting in conjunction with the event will allow for a deeper experience of Minamiyamashiro Village's climate and culture.

After living in the United States for 10 years, she returned to Japan and was so impressed by the deliciousness of sencha that she began studying Japanese tea by visiting tea farmers. While engaged in activities to promote Japanese tea as a Japanese tea instructor, she developed a desire to connect it with tourism and obtained a Kyoto City Tour Guide qualification. She disseminates various plans to convey the charm of Japanese tea to people both domestically and internationally.
