The GREEN×EXPO Association (officially the Japan Association for the 2027 International Horticultural Expo) signed an official participation agreement for GREEN×EXPO 2027 with the Philippines on May 21, 2026. A signing ceremony was held on May 25, 2026, coinciding with the visit of Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr., Secretary of Agriculture and Government Commissioner for the Exhibition Area, who accompanied Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to Japan.
The Philippine exhibition theme is 'Bukás: Gardens of the Bayanihan Spirit.' The term 'Bukás' in Filipino means 'open' and also signifies 'tomorrow.' It embodies the image of the Philippines as a nation open to nature, innovation, and collaboration, moving toward a greener future. The exhibition will highlight the country's rich nature, traditional horticultural culture, and sustainable agriculture.
The GREEN×EXPO Association expects that the charm of the Philippines' natural environment, culture, and horticulture will bring unique tropical vibrancy and energy to the Expo venue.
