Dream Incubator Incorporated

NTT-ME Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kei Ikeda; hereinafter "NTT-ME") is preparing to launch a circular economy initiative aimed at supporting corporations and local governments in advancing carbon neutrality and strengthening BCP (Business Continuity Planning) through the use of reused electric vehicles (EVs).

This initiative has been co-developed with EVolity Corporation (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Shoji Amachi; hereinafter "EVolity"), a subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Akiyuki Omotomu), and Dream Incubator Incorporated (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takayuki Miyake; hereinafter "DI"). By leveraging EVolity's vehicle management system, the initiative will visualize and guarantee the battery health status of reused EVs, enabling low-cost and reliable EV solutions. Applications for this service are scheduled to begin this summer.

This initiative will not only support corporations and local governments in implementing environmentally focused measures with sound economic rationale, but also contribute to strengthening community-wide resilience by enabling the use of these EVs as mobile emergency power sources during disasters.

Background of the Initiative

In recent years, the operating environment for corporations and local governments has undergone significant changes, with increasing demands for carbon neutrality, disaster resilience, and community contributions. At the same time, several barriers have hindered the widespread adoption of EVs. New EVs tend to be expensive due to high battery costs and difficulties in residual value assessment, while in the used market, uncertainty over battery degradation has prevented used EVs from being properly valued, making it difficult to establish a robust domestic market.

As a result, many EVs that are still functional are being exported overseas, leading to insufficient domestic resource circulation.

Overview of the Initiative

To address these challenges, NTT-ME will implement the following measures:

1. Promoting Environmental Initiatives through Visualization and Certification of Reused EV Battery Quality

By utilizing EVolity's service, which leverages battery analysis technology from Panasonic Holdings Corporation (Headquarters: Moriguchi, Osaka; Representative Director and President: Yuuki Kusumi; hereinafter "Panasonic"), the battery condition of reused EVs will be precisely visualized and certified by NTT-ME. This enables corporations and local governments to adopt low-cost EVs with confidence, supporting their carbon neutrality goals.

Real-time visualization of SOH (State of Health) and location data will also support optimized fleet operations.

2. Strengthening Disaster Resilience through Use of EVs as Emergency Mobile Power Sources

By leveraging location data, the initiative will enable wide-area support during disasters based on vehicle availability.

NTT-ME will explore establishing a system enabling mutual sharing of emergency mobile power sources among participating users and partner organizations.

This will create a new resilience network extending beyond individual corporate or municipal boundaries, enhancing regional disaster preparedness.

3. Advancing the Circular Economy Across the Battery Lifecycle

After their use in vehicles, batteries will be repurposed for stationary energy storage or portable emergency power sources.

Ultimately, battery materials will be recycled, aiming to achieve full resource circulation across the entire lifecycle—from EV deployment to disposal.
