Project Overview Euphorilla, the provider of the athlete data management system 'ONE TAP SPORTS,' has launched a collaborative project with Sagan Tosu (a J-League soccer club) and Fukuoka Iken Sports College to drive data utilization and human resource development.
This project involves students from the Fukuoka Iken Sports College generating performance statistics from Sagan Tosu's youth matches as part of their practical curriculum. These data points are then integrated and visualized through 'ONE TAP SPORTS,' supporting the academy's player development ecosystem.
Background: Structural Challenges in Data Utilization While Euphorilla has long supported Sagan Tosu's top team, youth development levels have struggled with resource constraints, making data preparation a significant barrier. Detailed video tagging requires dedicated analysts, and many local clubs find themselves in a situation where data simply does not exist. This project addresses this issue by combining three core elements: student participation, integrated data technology, and a dedicated performance dashboard.
Division of Roles (1) Stat Generation (Fukuoka Iken Students): Students from the Sports Management Technology department serve as analysts, generating detailed data such as distance covered and play frequency from match footage. This model provides students with real-world practical experience. (2) Data Integration & Dashboarding (Euphorilla): Euphorilla integrates student-generated stats with condition data managed in 'ONE TAP SPORTS,' providing a unified viewing environment that visualizes player performance. (3) Utilization for Development & Scouting (Sagan Tosu): Sagan Tosu’s Academy Director and recruitment department utilize the dashboard to refer to objective data while reviewing training policies and scouting prospects.
Comments and Future Outlook Tomomune Tanaka, Academy Director at Sagan Tosu, noted the importance of combining on-field intuition with objective data to deepen player understanding. He expressed his belief that this cycle—where students contribute to club management and their results directly aid player development—is highly significant for sports talent cultivation in Japan. The three organizations plan to continue this collaboration, aiming to foster an environment where sports data generates meaningful social value.
