SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard Ver2.0 | Key Changes and Actions Companies Should Take Now
Webinar Overview
The SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) is currently developing version 2.0 of its "Corporate Net-Zero Standard," an international standard for companies to set science-based net-zero targets. The second draft for public consultation was released in November 2025, and the final version is scheduled for publication in mid-2026. While new target setting under the current standard (Ver1.3) is possible until the end of 2027, the use of Ver2.0 will become mandatory from January 2028.
The main changes in Ver2.0 include:
① Introduction of Category A and B classifications based on company size and location
② Mandatory separation of Scope 1 and Scope 2 targets
③ Requirement to address all Scope 3 categories accounting for 5% or more of emissions
④ Requirement to achieve 100% low-carbon electricity by 2040
⑤ Transition from one-time certification to a 5-year cyclical renewal validation model
⑥ Mandatory disclosure of transition plans (for Category A companies)
⑦ Introduction of carbon removal targets for residual emissions.
In this webinar, a consultant will provide a clear explanation of these detailed changes, the transition schedule, and the 대응책 (countermeasures/actions) that companies should prepare for now.
