Daio Paper Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), which develops the "Elleair" brand, the No. 1 brand*2 in sanitary paper products, will release a 4-panel manga (5 installments in total) starting Wednesday, July 8, 2026, on the official Attento website. This manga will clearly explain the paper diapers (products developed through industry-academia collaboration) utilizing joint research results and Attento's initiatives for busy caregiving sites. Leaflets will also be distributed at various events such as academic conferences and seminars.

Attento 4-Panel Manga: Understanding Product Usage Guide Developed Through Industry-Academia Collaboration (Cover)

Purpose of Creation

In today's super-aging society, it is predicted that approximately 570,000 caregivers will be in shortage by fiscal year 2040. This increases the workload for each individual and creates a challenge of limited opportunities and time to obtain information on excretion care.*3 Under the concept of "Kaigo no Kaigo-ka®" (making care comfortable), which supports excretion care that allows caregivers, care recipients, and their families to achieve "peace of mind," "comfort," and "self-realization," Attento has been working to reduce the burden on hospital and care facility staff through seminars and the development of products from industry-academia collaboration.

Therefore, we have focused on "manga," which is popular across a wide range of generations, including Gen Z, as a method to convey highly specialized information on excretion care clearly and in a short time to busy hospital and care facility staff. Through this manga, we aim to provide hospital and care facility staff with an opportunity to approach their work positively and to assist in selecting products that meet the concerns of users regarding paper diapers. We also plan to distribute it to hospitals and care facilities so it can be used not only in daily practice but also for training. Attento will continue to engage in excretion care for "Kaigo no Kaigo-ka®" through various communication methods.

About the 4-Panel Manga

This manga clearly explains how our industry-academia collaboration products can help address concerns that ranked high in our survey*4 of hospital and care facility staff regarding "difficulties with paper diapers," such as "leakage that is difficult to manage with application techniques (contractures, males, side-lying, sitting) (65.8%)," "leakage (soft stool, watery stool) (54.5%)," and "skin troubles (51.0%)." The manga was created by Mari Inui, an illustrator and manga artist skilled at conveying specialized themes like medical and health topics in a gentle and approachable manner. The illustrations convey, with a soft worldview, how it can lead to reduced burden for both caregivers and care recipients.

While learning about the product features and development background, I was deeply moved to learn about the consideration and ingenuity put into it not only for the users but also for those involved in caregiving. I created it with the aim of using friendly and easy-to-understand expressions to convey the product's appeal.
