Our organization supports April Dream, a project to make April 1st a day for expressing dreams. This press release is a dream of the "Japan Association of Health Managers."

The Japan Association of Health Managers (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture https://www.eiseinetwork.com/) is an organization that works to thoroughly support and collaborate with companies on chemical substance management, stress, and mental health issues arising from changes in society and work styles.

What is a Health Manager?

A Health Manager is a specialist who protects the health and safety of employees.

Health Managers are national qualification holders established under the Industrial Safety and Health Act to prevent health hazards among workers and maintain a hygienic workplace environment.

In modern corporate management, the mental and physical health of employees is one of the important pillars.

Health Managers play a central role as "workplace environment management personnel."

However, the support system for health managers is currently not well-developed.

There are numerous challenges, such as a lack of opportunities to update knowledge, not knowing where to consult for practical matters rather than legal theory, and no place to interact and exchange opinions with people in similar positions.

Therefore, we, the Japan Association of Health Managers, are active as the first and only association for health managers in Japan.

Centered around health managers, diverse occupational health staff such as HR and labor managers, industrial physicians, industrial nurses, psychologists, and social insurance labor consultants learn from and support each other daily.

Current Initiatives

Free Seminars

>WEB Seminar on Health Checkups and Health Management

We held a WEB seminar where industrial physicians, public health nurses, and psychologists provided easy-to-understand and practical information on health checkups, health management, and stress checks.

Not only Type 1 Health Managers but also HR and labor managers participated, and the seminar received high evaluations in the survey.

Confirming the basics is very important, even if there's a feeling of "it's too late now..."

>In-person/WEB Seminar on Responding to Mental Health Issues

Industrial physicians, psychologists, health managers, and social insurance labor consultants served as instructors, providing a seminar to learn about common mental illnesses in the workplace and share actual company cases, allowing participants to immediately apply practical knowledge and information from the next day.

By acquiring basic knowledge, discussing with colleagues in the same role (different industries), and actively exchanging opinions, participants were able to resolve their concerns.

This also received high evaluations in the survey.

Community

>Exchange Training Session In-person/WEB

This is a gathering held on the third Friday of every month from 6:30 PM, in a hybrid format at a venue in Shinjuku and online.

There is a mini-lecture (topic presentation) each month on a set theme, and participants study by discussing it.

While studying is important, the real appeal of this exchange training session is that people with a common interest in labor and occupational health can interact and find colleagues.

Health managers who usually struggle alone in their companies, please come and find colleagues in this community. We hold sessions every month.

Individual Consultation and Consulting

>Stress Check 141 Questions (New Brief Job Stress Questionnaire) + Interview → Business Improvement Consulting

We view stress checks not as an obligation but as a tool to create an environment where people can work vibrantly. We combine a more detailed 141-question stress check with thorough interviews based on the results, and implement business improvement and organizational improvement consulting to truly change the situation.

This has led to actual improvements, such as improved turnover rates, positive feedback from employees who received interview counseling, and progress on issues that were recognized but left unaddressed due to not knowing where to start.

>Individual Request Support

We also offer customized support, such as public lectures on anger management,

harassment training tailored to the company's specific situation,

and individual consultations where we visit the actual site to provide guidance.

We are committed to providing bespoke solutions that are not one-size-fits-all.

Future Initiatives

In addition to our current initiatives, we will also undertake the following activities:

Statutory Training

>Health Manager Skill Improvement Training

This is training and education based on Article 19-2 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act.

If businesses do not provide training to health managers, many serious risks arise for the company.

If health hazards occur under an untrained health manager, the failure to fulfill the obligation to provide training may be used as evidence of a breach of the duty of care, potentially leading to enormous civil liability.

This training is highly meaningful, both in terms of risk management and in terms of improving the workplace through the active role of health managers.

It will be held online every fourth Thursday and Friday. Applications are being accepted.

>Health Promoter Training Course

Based on Article 12-2 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act, businesses with fewer than 50 employees are obligated to appoint a "Health Promoter."
If an unqualified person is appointed, it constitutes a legal violation, making qualification acquisition an unavoidable and important matter.

This in-person training comprehensively imparts practical knowledge that is immediately useful on-site, from know-how on accident prevention and health management to compliance.
It is not merely a fulfillment of an "obligation," but a skill-building course that protects the mental and physical health of valuable employees and enhances the company's trustworthiness. Applications are being accepted.
