EGG FIRM Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Representative Director: Nobuhiro Osawa) is launching a new support project, the ＜Sustainable Original Art＞ Project, to prevent the dispersal and overseas outflow of "original art" – the foundation of Japan's world-renowned anime culture – and to ensure its long-term preservation and inheritance.

This project will sell digital items with "Reproduction Original Art Issuance Rights" for the popular anime works "Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation" and "Oniichan wa Oshimai! (My Life as Inukai-san's Dog.)". A portion of the proceeds will be returned as original art storage fees. This creates a sustainable ecosystem where fans can enjoy and directly contribute to archiving activities.

■ Background of the Project Launch: Protecting Anime Cultural Assets

In recent years, the artistic value of anime original drawings (genga) and cel-art has been increasing globally. However, handwritten paper original drawings often lack storage space at production studios, and many are discarded after broadcast. While the digitization of anime production makes it difficult for physical artifacts to remain, paper original drawings exist as valuable physical intermediate productions. EGG FIRM has been exploring new initiatives to preserve paper original drawings, which are increasingly recognized worldwide as cultural assets. Utilizing NFT technology as a core component and combining it with physical reproduction original drawings, the ＜Sustainable Original Art＞ Project allows fans to participate in activities that "protect" original drawings through the "purchase" of digital items.

■ Project Features

User-supported Original Art Preservation: All digital items sold are selected from cuts where paper original art still exists. By choosing and purchasing their favorite cuts, users can directly contribute to the preservation of their beloved characters and scenes.

Digital Items with "Reproduction Original Art Issuance Rights": Digital items sold come with "Reproduction Original Art Issuance Rights." Holders can obtain a reproduction original drawing engraved with a serial number and their name (excluding those sold at AnimeJapan) by submitting a paid printing application. Leveraging NFT technology, buying and selling between users (secondary distribution) is also possible. A portion of the revenue generated from each transaction will also be allocated to original art preservation fees.

One-of-a-Kind Original Art: If secondary distribution of digital items is not performed, third parties cannot apply for printing reproduction original drawings, preserving the value of the reproduction original drawing held only by the purchaser of the digital item. Furthermore, printing is limited to once per account. Both purchasers in primary distribution and users who acquire the items through secondary distribution can print reproduction original drawings. (The serial number will increment with each print, e.g., No.001, No.002).

*Original art preservation is guaranteed as long as this project continues.

■ About Anime Art

A special illustration commemorating the launch of the ＜Sustainable Original Art＞ Project has been unveiled, featuring delicate original drawings by Yoshiko Saito (Character Designer for "Mushoku Tensei II") finished and special-effected by Hidetaka Tenjin (Mechanical Art for "Macross Series," etc.), who creates an overwhelming sense of light.

This will be an auction for a total of four items: a vertical illustration depicting the main heroines Roxy, Sylphiette, and Eris, and individual illustrations for each heroine.

The ＜Anime Art＞, which was exhibited and attracted attention at the EGG FIRM booth at AnimeJapan 2026, also comes with "Anime Art Issuance Rights" with the same specifications as the "Reproduction Original Art Issuance Rights" in the ＜Sustainable Original Art＞ project. This means it is a unique digital item in the world, with a serial number upon printing and enabling secondary distribution.
