April 22nd is the global environmental day 'Earth Day' & April is Earth Day Month!

April 22nd every year is the global environmental activity day 'Earth Day'.

'Earth Day' is a day for each individual to express their commitment to the global environment.

This grassroots citizen environmental movement, which began across the United States in 1970, has spread worldwide, with various initiatives and events now taking place in different parts of the world, and more than 193 countries and over 1 billion people are said to participate. The UN also adopted April 22nd as 'International Mother Earth Day' and has been implementing it since 2010.

Currently, global warming, climate change, and extreme weather resulting from environmental destruction are increasing in intensity year by year. In recent years, keywords such as SDGs, sustainability, circular economy, nature positive, and GX have driven rapid transitions to environmentally conscious societies in various fields, including administration, corporations, and the private sector, on a global scale.

Introducing approximately 100 'Earth Day' related events & actions nationwide at once!

This year's global theme is 'OUR POWER, OUR PLANET'. The Earth Day Japan Network, in cooperation with EARTHDAY.ORG (formerly: Earth Day Network) in the United States, will strengthen the global movement even further by designating April as 'Earth Day Month' and will hold the 'Earth Day Forum' to announce information about it.

Actor Shun Shioya, Earth Day Evangelist, and Musician SUGIZO, Earth Day Global Ambassador, will also participate!

On the day, a lineup of special guests will appear, including actor Shun Shioya and ethical coordinator Alisa Evans, as well as Kozo Takei of Earth Day Collaborative Partner eumo, Atsuko Suzuki of Present Tree, Hideaki Takemura of Green Peoples Power, and musician SUGIZO (video appearance only), Earth Day Global Ambassador.
