Three Days of Heart-Pounding and Relaxing Fun in Sunny Sado
"Earth Celebration (EC)," a historic outdoor festival celebrating its 39th year, will be held for three days this summer: August 21st (Friday), 22nd (Saturday), and 23rd (Sunday) on Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture.
The taiko performing arts ensemble Kodo will plan and present a variety of music and cultural events.
The official website will OPEN on March 21st (Saturday)! We will introduce this year's lineup and attractions.
What Makes Earth Celebration Unique?
-
Artists and performing arts from around the world that Kodo has encountered gather on Sado, offering opportunities to enjoy workshops and free stage performances.
-
Kodo's outdoor stage performances are exclusive to Earth Celebration, offering a different kind of expressive freedom compared to their theater performances.
-
Set against the backdrop of Sado Island, whose culture is gaining attention with the inscription of "Sado Kinzan" (Sado Gold Mine) as a World Cultural Heritage site, you can simultaneously enjoy traditional performing arts like Onidaiko and Ogiokesa, as well as cultural experiences and nature activities (sea kayaking, pottery making, etc.).
-
Markets will be set up in three areas, offering a chance to savor food from Sado, across Japan, and around the world. Craft goods are also a highlight.

The performance on the second night of the Harbor Concert, "Poetry of the Earth — Kodo x Khusugtun," embodies this philosophy. Don't miss this stage where differences are respected and resonance is achieved.
The first night, "Matsuri-Oto — Summer Special," will feature the origins of Kodo's performance "Miyake," known as "Miyakejima Geino...
